Democratic Party: Open mouth, insert foot

I am amazed at the infection of the Democratic party with the dreaded “foot in mouth” disease.  I say this based on the recent actions of key people in the Obama campaign.  Senator Joe Biden made what can only be seen as a sexist remark in describing the Republican VP candidate. According to the CNN Political Ticker, Biden quipped, “She’s good looking.” Of course, this is not the first time Biden inserted his foot into his mouth.  One just has to think back to the 1988 Democratic primaries to see this is nothing new for Biden. This revelation was a death blow to his campaign. Rather then learn from his past mistake, Biden continued with this pattern in 2008.  According to The New York Observer, Biden said of Obama:

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy, I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

Biden has shown a pattern of poor judgment and running off at the mouth. However, Biden is not the only Democrat to open his mouth and insert his foot. Dan Fowler, former DNC chairman, was making jokes about people being made homeless by Hurricane Gustav. He made the comment that God must be on the Democrat’s side since landfall was to be on the same day as the opening of the Republican Party Convention. According to CNN Political Ticker, Fowler has apologized for his comments.

These are the people who Obama has selected to be part of his campaign. Once again, Obama shows lack of judgment in selecting men who make insensitive and offensive remarks. This is a pattern which Obama has demonstrated repeatedly during his campaign in his associations from Rev. Wright to today.
