House Bill Would Ban Imported ‘Bodies’ for Exhibit

Here is what Fox News is reporting about a controversial art display:

WASHINGTON — More than 20 House lawmakers have signed their names to a bill that would ban the importation of “plastinated human remains.” The measure comes amid controversy involving “Bodies The Exhibition” now touring the country and the world. [...]

[My Commentary]

It seems the problem is that the exhibit in question is from China and there is some uncertainty about the willingness of the deceased to being treated in this manner. This ban would not affect the display of bodies in the United States. It would only affect the importation of such displays so Americans can still have their dead bodies carved up, dipped in plastic, and put on public display. The things once reserved for carnival side shows are now mainstream. It seems to me that the human body should be treated with greater respect than is shown here.
