Church Growth Buzzword Bingo
March 11, 2008
Lately, I have been reading several books on Church growth and personal evangelism. I keep running into “buzzwords” that I find in secular leadership and business books. Here is a card I have made for the Church Growth Buzzword game.
There are buzzwords in business that have seeped into the church. Several bloggers have complied lists of these words. [1] [2] Sometimes, it is maddening as I wonder if I have stumbled into a businessperson convention when I meet with other pastors. I catch myself using these terms. Maybe it is time for us to stop talking and to start doing. That is why I am so excited about the Small Church Conference.

Thanks for the link.
The real question becomes, “How can we stop speaking in so many buzzwords and get back to the everyday language Christ used?” Is it even still possible? It better be! One of the purposes I had for coming up with the randomly generated Church Buzzword Bingo card was to challenge all of us to catch ourselves and get back to speaking a language normal people, especially the “uninitiated”, would understand.

Dude! That is so clever and funny and, well, and *sad* all at the same time!

I’ve seen a few bingo cards like this, but the one I’m still missing is the one with italian soccer players and what they do. But maybe those are called Oscar-cards since most of what they fake almost deserves an Oscar-award…
